We’ve been living in Düsseldorf for almost 3 years and have found some great restaurants. We’d like to share some of the best restaurants in Düsseldorf.
Düsseldorf is a very international city which is demonstrated by the variety of different restaurants. This article showcases some of the best restaurants in Düsseldorf.
Portions are extremely large in most restaurants but you do not have to eat it all!
Thankfully Germans do not like to waste food, so just ask to take home anything you don’t finish.
Libanon, located in the heart of Düsseldorf Altstadt, offers amazing Lebanese food. It’s a restaurant with a huge selection of small dishes which are fantastic for sharing and is a great healthy alternative.
One of our favourite dishes is the Tabbouleh. A vegetarian dish with finely chopped parsley, tomatoes, cucumber and bulgur wheat with a refreshing lemon dressing.
Enjoy with the delicious home-made humus and falafel and the home made flat bread.
For a treat, finish you meal with a selection of their delicious baklava which is a sweet dessert pastry made of layered filo pastry, filled with chopped nuts with honey.
Berger Str. 19-21, 40213 Düsseldorf
Have you ever seen noodles made by hand? The restaurant’s kitchen has a see through wall to allow you to see the chefs hard at work and making the noodles that will shortly arrive on your plate.
Böser Chinese is a modern take on Chinese cuisine. This stylish restaurant offers a delicious menu of Chinese dishes, from delightful noodle soups to main dishes such as Peking duck packed with seasonal vegetables.
One favourite is the Beef Tenderloin bowl with shiitake mushrooms, tofu in a spicy Szechuan sauce.
Zollhof 13, 40221 Düsseldorf
Located in lively Bilk, Kim’s Core is a fantastic restaurant offering a selection of delicious South Korean dishes.
In the winter you can sit inside the cosy restaurant but as soon as the sun comes out, you also have the option to enjoy some al fresco dining.
The staff are friendly and the menu full of tempting options. The hot plate is extremely fun, allowing you to get involved and cook your food.
Delicious flavours and generous portions, the restaurant also give you small fermented sides to go with your dish such as pickled cucumber and kimchi, which have health benefits.
One favourite is the Crispy Duck which comes with lots of stir fry vegetables; you won’t be disappointed.
Neusser Str. 84, 40219 Düsseldorf
Known for being one of the best ramen restaurants in Düsseldorf you’ll often turn up to find the queue is out of the door, but don’t be put off! The queue moves quickly and Takumi is a must visit if you love ramen.
Ramen is a Japanese soup dish which consists of Chinese wheat noodle served in a meat or fish broth, with toppings such as sliced pork, teriyaki chicken and tofu.
Takumi has a varied range of different soups and a couple of delicious starters too.
Ramen is a tasty but economical meal that will keep you nice and full. Try the Tan Tan Men which comes with minced pork, bean sprouts and noodles in a spicy soup.
Immermannstraße 28, 40210 Düsseldorf
Located in Düsseldorf city centre, A Tavola is a magical Italian restaurant with a buzzing atmosphere. The restaurant is always lively inside and in the summer you also have an option to sit outside.
The restaurant has an impressive wine list which compliments the fantastic Italian dishes and we actually found the red wine we served at our wedding whilst having dinner here one night.
We recommend the Spaghetti al Scoglio with Baby octopus and mixed shellfish, it’s a house speciality and absolutely delicious.
Make sure you save a little space for coffee and biscotti!
Wallstraße 11, 40213 Düsseldorf
For a true taste of German cuisine visit Benders Marie in the Altstadt, it’s by far the best schnitzel in Düsseldorf! It’s the perfect place to enjoy a schnitzel all year round providing indoor and outdoor dining options.
A schnitzel is a tender pork (or veal) medallion with a crunchy breadcrumb coat and at Benders Marie is a very generous portion often filling an entire plate! Our favourite accompanying sides are the wild creamy mushrooms and a portion of double fried chips. Again portions are huge!
The mussels are also a house speciality and when it is ‘spargel’ season (April / May), don’t miss out on the white asparagus, which is for sure one of the best restaurants in Dusseldorf.
Andreasstraße 13, 40213 Düsseldorf
Carlsplatz is an absolute must visit for any visitors to Düsseldorf. A lovely modern market full of lots of different stalls, you’ll find it rather hard to wander round and not pick up some yummy treats.
Located in the very trendy Calsplatz Market is Casa Cortilla who dishes up some of the best Italian food. You order at the counter and are given a number and told how long the food should take.
Our absolute favourite is the Beef Carpaccio with Truffle pasta which comes on a china plate with cutlery.
There are tall tables outside of the market and a vendor who sells chilled wine. On a lovely day, there is nothing better than enjoying a glass of Reisling and watching the world go by from this lovely spot.
Stand number: F3 – Carlsplatz 26 40213 Düsseldorf
Düsseldorf has one of the largest Japanese communities in Europe and there are an abundance of wonderful Japanese restaurants to be discovered in Dusseldorf.
Yoshi by Nagaya is an awarded winning Michelin star restaurant delivering a truly unique Japanese cuisine. As the younger sister restaurant of Nagaya, it offers more traditional Japanese cuisine.
Minimalist style with great service, the restaurant is a real experience.
We had the tasting menu and it really show cased how initiative Japanese cuisine is; be prepared to have your mind blown by the excellent food.
Kreuzstraße 17, 40211 Düsseldorf
This restaurant presents Greek food in a very upmarket setting. The atmosphere is warm and friendly and the perfect place to catch up with friends.
The food is absolutely delicious, offering the classic Greek dishes along with a large variety of plates that are ideal for sharing in a group.
The presentation of the dishes is modern, adding a twist to the traditional dishes. We love our fish and seafood and all the dishes we tried did not disappoint.
The only issue you will have with this restaurant is trying to choose what dishes to order – everything looks fantastic!
Luckily the staff are extremely friendly and are on hand to help should you need any recommendations.
Herderstraße 73, 40237 Düsseldorf
Sometimes we just get a craving for Dim Sum and Dschunke offers some of the best Dim Sum in Düsseldorf.
We loved the huge variety of steamed and grilled Dim Sum offered at this restaurant with the Sui Mai and the Pork Buns being particular favourites.
The menu has pictures of the food (which is actually very helpful for helping you decide on what to order) and helps you to recognise what you’ve ordered when it arrives!
The food arrives as soon it is ready and is the perfect meal for a lazy grazing and sharing food with friends. Soy sauce and chilli are provided to accompany the Dim Sum and if your chopsticks skills are anything like mine, don’t wear a white top!
