The temperature had dropped so we wore warm jackets and hats for our trip to see the Mont Blanc.  As the cable car ascended, we rose quickly, watching the ground fall away from us. Soon we had reached the mid-station and swapped into another cable car. Mist surrounded the mid station and eclipsed our view of the top. Soon the fog cleared and there were the mountains, blinding white in front of us.

At the top, we all shuffled out into the cold.  Gawping at the views we looked at the mountain range from every angle. The smattering of snow made everything look so clean and crisp. Fresh tracks were visible from a plucky skier who had hiked up the Mont Blanc that morning to enjoy the fresh blanket of snow in early September. All around we could see a slow and steady movement of people shuffling through the snow, some with crampons and poles. In the distance we saw a group of people readying their bright parachutes, the colours providing a wonderful contrast against the pure, white snow.

Mesmerised by the view, we watched the hive of activity below and all the people heading out to enjoy the snowfall. The undulating mountain range, a perfect playground for all the adventurist’s pursuits. From a distance, there was a sudden pulsing sound, growing to a roar. The unmistakable sound of a helicopter surrounded us, and the sound reverberated through the air. We looked up to see the helicopter soaring through the sky over the snow-clad mountains.
